I Am A Scientist offers a mix-and-match system that makes it easy to shatter stereotypes about science and scientists in your classroom. Below you’ll find our recommendations for getting the most out of these resources, but we invite you to explore the approach that works best for you. WHAT IS I AM A SCIENTIST?

I Am a Scientist shares the work and stories of real world STEM professionals that break misconceptions and stereotypes about what STEM is and who can shape it. Because every student deserves a chance to see themselves in science.

Designed with the things students care about top of mind.

 

The stories we share focus on the people and purpose behind the research and are bookended with practical pathways to getting there.

This program was designed together with teachers and educators across our RISE community.

It was thoughtfully crafted with insights from schools around the country of what students were craving and how to best serve them.

The resources cover a wide range of scientists, creatives, social scientists, engineers, and many more roles through STEM and STEAM.

STEM is becoming increasingly versatile and is found in numerous institutions. We are deliberate in our selection process, ensuring a diverse mix of individuals from various backgrounds and careers.

All the resources are FREE to download and use throughout your classroom!

Because money shouldn’t be a barrier to knowledge. We periodically offer donations of our poster sets as well.

What age groups does the program target?

Our primary target is middle to high school students.

While our content is developed for a middle and high school audience, we’ve had educators from other grade levels mix and match resources to fit their classroom needs.

Can I copy/paste the images for use somewhere else?

Not without credit.

We encourage you to use our open resources in the best way you see fit for your classrooms, this being said, our team of photographers, illustrators, and content producers deserve credit. You can find the credits at the bottom of each story.

How/who do I credit?

I Am A Scientist + Creatives.

Please credit any content and images to I Am A Scientist (@iamastem or #IAmASTEM). Furthermore, we encourage you to tag our talented creatives, you can find the names and links to our photographers and illustrators at the bottom of each scientist’s story as well as on our Team and Collaborators page.

Can you connect me to the scientists to bring into my classroom?

Not for individual classrooms.

As you can imagine, our scientists are extremely busy people and it just wouldn’t be feasible to have thousands of classrooms reaching out. However, we do occasionally invite them to our public (virtual) events and do specific classroom Q&A session videos. Stay in touch with us in our RISE Community to find out about when these are happening.
