Collecting Souvenirs.

I collect magnets from all of the places I visit. I love exploring the most touristy parts of new cities. Recently, I also became a life size statue in Central Park.

Art & Fashion.

I love art and believe it can change the way we see wildlife. I love finding ways to connect art to my work! That’s what got me to start creating lots of bat-inspired fashion based on pictures that I take out and about on my adventures.

Exercise.

I love weightlifting and yoga. I’m also pretty competitive, and I love group fitness classes! But you can also catch me crashing on the couch and watching old show.

Exercise.

I really like taking group exercise classes like body pump which is an energetic weightlifting class. I’m really competitive so it’s a fun way for me to get exercise and tap into my competitive side. I also like yoga and I’m very proud to be able to do a headstand.

Bird Watching.

I love bird watching. I have about 20 bird feeders outside of my window just to see what birds come through my backyard.

A Little About Me

  • I was a science kid.

    I loved to read, sometimes thousands of pages in a year. My parents encouraged my curiosity by getting me DIY science kits. I was also in love with animals that I thought about being a marine biologist or wildlife veterinarian.

  • I still get nervous speaking in public.

    Sometimes I get physically sick before having to do public speaking. I’ve even done public speaking workshops but every time I get on stage I get very nervous.

  • I dealt with imposter syndrome.

    There have been a lot of times in science, especially during my PhD, where I felt like I didn’t belong. But I find comfort knowing that there are other people who are figuring out their roles in their job.

  • Quirky

    I like a lot of things that might be outside the norm and I have a bubbly personality.

  • Enthusiastic

    When I’m enthusiastic about something, I get sparks of creativity and am able to create a plan to seek out solutions.

  • A Planner

    I really like creating systems, organizing information, planning, and creating lists. I do not prefer spontaneity.

  • A Procrastinator

    I usually need to put myself against a wire to get the moments of inspiration or produce my best work.
